Car Seat Safety Program
Is Your Child Safe?
Durham County residents can attend a car seat information session to learn the proper use of car seats and the North Carolina law regarding safety seats. Eligible parents may purchase a discounted infant/toddler or booster car seat (based upon income: $10, $25, or $45).
Evening and weekend classes are held at Welcome Baby, in the Durham County Cooperative Extension Building: 721 Foster St. (near the corner of Foster and Trinity). Call 919-560-7150 to register. Pre-registration is required. Childcare is not available during car seat classes. Classes start promptly.
If you already own a car seat and have questions about its installation or correct use, you may also attend the WB class, or, call the Durham EMS at 560-8287 ext. 214 to find out about community car seat clinics or to schedule an appointment to have your child's car seat checked at their office.
For questions about car seats, recalls, and car seat research you can call UNC Highway Safety Research Center at 1-800-672-4527 or visit http://www.buckleupnc.org/.
