Host A Drive

When you organize a drive for Welcome Baby, you help collect essential items, like coats, diapers, books, and baby clothing, that directly support families through our Giving Closet and seasonal programs.

Hosting a donation drive is one of the most meaningful ways to support families in Durham County.  Whether you’re part of a school, business, faith community, or neighborhood group, your collective effort makes a real and lasting impact.

Why Host a Drive

Each year, Welcome Baby relies on community drives to keep our shelves stocked and our programs running strong.

Your drive helps us:

  • Provide warm coats, hats, and gloves for children during the winter months
  • Supply diapers, wipes, and baby gear to families year-round
  • Distribute books and educational toys that support early literacy
  • Ensure that no family goes without essentials for their growing children

When you host a drive, you’re doing more than collecting items. You’re building community and spreading kindness throughout Durham.

Types of Drive You Can Host

Through engaging lessons and group discussions, fathers explore topics such as:

  • Annual Coat Drive: Each year, we collect new and gently used children’s coats, hats, gloves, and scarves (ages newborn to 8 years). Your group can host a collection bin, become a drop-off location, or gather items from your community.
  • Diaper or Clothing Drive: Host a baby supply or clothing drive to help restock our Giving Closet. Items like diapers, wipes, baby clothes, and strollers are always in high demand.
  • Yarn Drive: In partnership with the Durham County Cooperative Extension and the Butner Correctional Facility, we collect yarn of all lengths, weights, and colors. Inmates knit beautiful blankets and hats for Durham families.
  • Seasonal or Specialty Drives: You can also create your own themed drive, such as back-to-school supplies, baby books, or maternity care items. Our team will provide guidance and materials to help you get started.
