Car Seat Safety Classes Overview

Who It's For

This program is open to Durham County families with children from birth to age five who want to learn about child passenger safety, proper installation, and when to transition to the next car seat stage.

It’s especially helpful for:

  • New parents preparing for their baby’s arrival
  • Families unsure if their car seat is correctly installed
  • Caregivers who transport children and want to meet state safety requirements

Why It Matters

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), proper car seat use reduces the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers.

Welcome Baby’s Car Seat Safety Program helps families apply this life-saving knowledge through simple, clear instruction — ensuring that every child is protected on the road.

“After attending class, we adjusted both of our car seats. It made a huge difference in how confident we feel driving our children safely.”
