Who It's For

Triple P is open to Durham County parents and caregivers of children ages 0–5 who want to learn positive, effective parenting strategies in a supportive setting.

Two versions are offered:

  • Level 3 – For families managing mild to moderate behavior challenges or everyday routines.
  • Level 4 Group – For parents seeking broader skill-building and personalized guidance for more persistent or multiple behavior concerns.

Why It Matters

Triple P empowers parents to build healthy family relationships, prevent behavior problems before they start, and help children develop self-control, problem-solving skills, and emotional awareness. Families who participate often report feeling calmer, more confident, and more connected.

What You’ll Learn

Parents and caregivers gain practical skills for:

  • Encouraging positive behavior and cooperation
  • Setting clear expectations and consistent routines
  • Managing tantrums and other challenging behaviors calmly
  • Reducing stress and improving confidence
  • Strengthening family relationships through positive communication

What to Expect

  • Level 3: One-time sessions or a 4-week series covering topics such as bedtime, routines, and school readiness
  • Level 4 Group: 8-week series including five in-person classes (2 hours each), three 20-minute individual phone consultations, and a final group session
  • Offered free of charge to all Durham County families
  • Led by certified facilitators trained in the Triple P curriculum

Triple P sessions are led by trained Parent Educators from the Welcome Baby team. Each facilitator brings expertise, compassion, and real-life understanding of the joys and challenges of parenting. Classes are interactive, respectful, and designed to meet families where they are.
