Find organizations and programs across Durham County that provide family support, childcare, health services, food assistance, housing help, and parenting education. These local partners work closely with Welcome Baby to strengthen and uplift our community.

  • DSS Child Care

  • Durham Cooperative Extension (4-H)

  • Durham Early Headstart

    DEHS is a federally-funded, free and comprehensive child development and family support program for low-income expectant women and families with infants and toddlers age birth to 3. Families participate through two program models: intensive home visiting and full-day, center-based child care.

    Mocha Moms is the premier voice for mothers of color. Through chapters and online, Mocha Moms provides support for women of color as they journey through all phases of motherhood while advocating for them nationally.
  • Chapel Hill-Durham Parents of Multiples
    CHDPOM is an organization dedicated to families of twins, triplets or higher-order multiples. We are a group that provides educational and emotional support and social activities for its members. CHDPOM is a nonprofit support organization with approximately 200 members in the Chapel Hill-Durham and surrounding North Carolina areas.

Diaper Resources

Due to high a demand for supplemental diapers, The Diaper Bank is reducing the inventory they can give to their distribution partners. This has led to us now offering one pack of diapers per family, per visit as opposed to two. Families can still get diapers from other Diaper Bank distribution partners listed below.

  • Urban Ministries Durham
    Distribution of diapers: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 1-3 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday 9-11 a.m. and 5-6:30 p.m. Families are eligible every 30 days. ID’s for both the parent and children needing diapers are required for the first visit. UMD accepts almost any form of ID (birth certificate, medicaid, social security cards, bills, medical forms, etc.). Parents receiving diapers also qualify for clothing and food which are both distributed during those hours of operation (M-Th 9-11).
  • Durham Community Food Pantry
    Durham County Residents (or those those living in Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Granville, Orange, Person, Vance, or Warren Counties) may receive diapers once a month. Distribution of diapers: Mondays through Thursdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Wednesdays 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Families are eligible to receive diapers once a month. Parents receiving diapers can also pick up food boxes during distributions Wednesday from 10am-1pm and 5pm-7pm as well as Thursday from 10am-1pm.

  • Alliance Health

    Alliance Health is a Local Management Entity-Managed Care Organization serving people in North Carolina’s Durham, Wake, Cumberland and Johnston counties. Alliance offers treatment and support for mental illness, substance use disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Children's Developmental Services Agencies

    Local CDSAs are available to help families, caregivers and professionals serve children with special needs through its Infant Toddler Program.

  • The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children

    The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.
